Gentry

by RMB Motors
Gentry Gallery

Available: 1974 to 1989 (as RMB)

Brief history of car:

The RMB Gentry was the work of Roger Blockley who initially made a one off MG TF replica based on a Triumph Vitesse chassis at home(Roger worked at the Triumph factory) but soon after he finished it he had requests to build others. In 1974 RMB Motors was born.

The Gentry was based on the Triumph Herald chassis, on top of which was a metal frame to which wooden inner panels and aluminium and GRP outer panels were fixed. A Spitfire version came a year or so later along with the option of a custom built chassis.

The Gentry was a big hit with many hundreds being sold during its run between 1974 and 1989. The project then passed hands to SP Motors who later became TP motors. The Gentry was to receive upgrades to accomodate Ford donors such as the Escort and Sierra. The Gentry still lives on today and is being made by The Gentry Motor Company, see www.madabout-kitcars.com for details.
