Midge Gallery

Available: Early 1980s to Mid 1990s

Brief history of car:

The Midge was born from the hands of John Cowperthwaite of Sheffield, responsible for a handful of kit designs during the 1980s such as the Locust and Husky.

Originally based on a Triumph chassis the Midge was built using paper plans to construct the wooden body tub which was then covered in aluminium. Running gear and power was based on the Triumph donor.

Ownership of the Midge changed hands several times during the 80s and 90s to finally rest with the Midge Owners and Builders Club. The Midge went through an update whilst in the ownership of White Rose Vehicles of Gillingham Kent, changing to Ford Escort power and running gear on a new ladder frame chassis. Power was any of the Triumph range of engines up to 2000cc and Ford 4 pots up to the 2.0L Ford Pinto.
